As I work on these "interests" pages, I'm noticing that there's a definite theme developing - optimization. Optimization can look a lot like minimalism, but it doesn't always have to be. The minimalist diet, clothing, and toiletries can save you time and money so you can spend that on your extensive figurine collection for example. Click through to hear a few more thoughts on this.

Ideal Meal

The easiest, healthiest, enviro-friendliest, low-cost meals using shelf-stable, minimally-processed whole foods. Pre-prepare two week's worth of meals in under twenty minutes. Mere seconds of prep time, and 20 - 60min of passive cooking time in a thermos. Tools needed - food thermos, kettle or immersion heater, spoon, measuring cups/spoons. Aditional kitchen items - mug or thermos for drinking, bottle brush and dish soap, optional cutting board and knife for fresh produce, optional bowl. Bin for your ingredients and spices. This can literally be your entire kitchen. Fridge/freezer also optional for extending shelf life of some ingredients.

For many years I've utilized a "personal uniform". I have one kind/colour of pants, a bunch of the same shirt but in four different colours, a hoodie, rain gear, rain/sun hat, warm hat, hiking boots and running shoes. Click to learn why having a personal uniform is awesome. For some people, especially women, a "capsule wardrobe" is one level more complex than this but more versatile.

Yeah, OK, so it's weird to share one's toiletries, but this is more about the general topic of minimalism/optimization. Pictured is all the toiletries I use: a bottle of liquid castile soap, alum crystal deodorant, toothbrush, toothpaste, floss, hair and beard trimmer, nail clippers, tweezers, face cloth. Most of these are self-explanatory but I share a few thoughts on the page if you want to click through.
